Hyvää joulua ja onnellista uutta vuotta!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
God jul och gott nytt år!
Weather in southern Finland right now: + 4 C, rainy, no snow. Weather at my SL home: -14, lot of snow and snowing more.
My SL Christmas set has everything I like. I have made it for me and my boyfriend who is not coming to SL ever – he quite hates it. IRL we are also separate during the Christmas, we both have our own families and plans, but I have this imaginary SL Christmas – there we can spend holidays together – eating, drinking, walking outside, watching TV, playing games, reading good books and just chilling and wearing pajamas.
My RL Christmas is another story. I am going to take my children and travel across the country to meet family members – lots of fun and laughing, maybe singing too. Oh and there is a real Christmas baby I cannot wait to hold!
all pics are raw shots, I was too busy to edit them with Pixlr Express🙂
I have been in SL since 2006. My most active years have started 2009 – after that I has been inworld regularly daily/weekly/monthly – depending how busy my RL is.
I regret only one thing: why don’t I start blogging earlier! Or at least take more pics! When I now look back my old entries and pics, I can easily remember houses, environments, lights and shadows, what did I saw when I stand at my old living room/bedroom/balcony and turned over…
I am thinking of this because during next year I might have an opportunity to test/use Oculus Rift. If only seeing my avatar living and moving on the screen impacts me quite powerfully, I can not imagine how it feels when SL experience is even more alive.
I am not a very good SL (commercial) blogger because I use my old furniture a lot. They bring back memories and using old stuff suits also with my mixed reality profile: IRL I have always loved second hand shops, flea markets and old, recycled things. If I am an anti-consumerist IRL, why would I change that attitude inworld. I lovelovelove talented SL content creators, but I do not want buy stuff just for a one pic. Everything you see, is just like I live my SL.
No winter and christmas decorations for me! That was me only week ago. Well, after I wrote it down, I completely disagreed with myself – but it is ok, because I am a woman and supposed to keep changing my mind.
Behind this decision was RL news: black Christmas in Helsinki area. I may whine about coldness and darkness and too much snow, but the truth is, I am used to have snow at winter and it is a disappointment if there is no snow. Snow makes sense. It lightens everything up when it is dark almost all day. Snow looks soft and pure, it is like a white blanket (very cold one though).
I did not want to change my current grass bubble so I finally bought more land with more prims. Now I have too plots, 1024 sq m (it is for sale or rent, comment or IM me if interested) and bigger 2048 sq m. The old plot has green look but my new land has snow skydome and my dear old house, winter cabin by lake. I have plenty of empty outdoors space so it is possible I make my own skating pound or winter wonderland forest…
- TL Design’s snow dome with snow maker, full perm, but only 25L
- house: :P&T: Christmas by the Lake cabin (I tried to search Pestle&Twig but did not find it anymore)
- LAQ Decor ~ Angel Chimes (free gift!)
- Oldtime Christmas Tree v2 snowy Nordic
- Sway’s golden trees
More to come about my mixed reality Christmas…
At SL I have mainland plot with 234 prims. I would love to decorate all day long but my prims always finish too soon. So when I read Inara’s article about Kitely I just had to make an account immediately. I have also tried Inworldz but it felt like old fashioned SL. I am sure it is lot more but the first expression was not very good one.
Making Kitely account was very easy and quick and after reading basics I was in and creating my own free region. Under 5 minutes I had own privacy and plenty of space! I don’t even realize how big it is… and I am sure I have misunderstood the prim thing. It is not possible to have 100 000 prims for free!
Next step: do I build everything on my own or do I try to move content from SL to Kitely? I think I try both ways.
For a while I just want to stand on the middle of my own region, feeling air and space and freedom and all the possibilities.
But, one of the many things that separates Kitely from all the other virtual worlds currently offering themselves as Second Life alternatives, is the level of professionalism. This is a real company, run by a dedicated staff that is serious about what they do. Kitely has all the signs of being up for the job and around for a long time.
