DIY poses and projector

I always want to try new tips and tricks in SL. My latest project is learn how to make poses and light projector of your own. Pose making I have tried before with Animare (years ago) and DAZ (last summer), now I tested QAvimator.

I have never before really understood what means graphics–> lightning “sun, moon and projectors”. I run to few articles about the projector lights and immediately made my own. It is quite easy if you have the basic knowledge of building and editing. I read Inara Pey’s brilliant tutorial about lightning projectors and Cajsa Lilliehook’s tutorial about lightning, shadows and projectors. Very useful tutorials both!

My first projector is rather simple with a grunge texture. The trick for powerful shadows is to find proper distance and altitude for the projector. Windlight matters also: darker ones work much better with projectors.

My first pose is DIY, basic pose, very me’ish. The second pose is from my Semotion AO stand collection and the third one is DIY: this pose was meant to be combination of a victory march and classic We can do it -posters. I am pretty satisfied how it looks so bye-bye, I am off to make new poses and projectors…projectorpose_001

Playing with the DAZ Studio

Every time I take photos in SL I get frustrated with poses –  finding perfect one is almost impossible or it takes time. I have always wanted to make my one poses but after trying a few pose tools I gave up. At the weekend I finally found DAZ Studio: it is quite easy to use and it is FREE! Making a pose is so easy my 12 years old made one just from the scratch. Voilá, his first pose for mommy was ready after 10 minutes. He made very dramatic pose as you can see (first pic) 🙂

My own poses (yes dear but hurry up and i want to spin like a ivy ball) are quite simple. I read Jyicy’s great tutorials (part 1 and part 2) and after that I was able to make mirror poses also. Especially exporting the poses to the Second Life is super fast and easy!

Few tips: 1) remember to check “loop” when exporting, otherwise your pose will last only few seconds, 2) make sure your avatar’s feet are on the ground, 3) when you click body parts, first find a white point and a yellow circle around it and you can rotate body part freely.
