Comic strip skin

Fingerpori is very popular Finnish comic strip by Pentti Jarla. My new skin is DeeTalez‘s Jarla skin – and I can not stop giggling every time I wear this skin. Fingerpori’s humour is based on verbal misunderstandings and puns.

Yesterday I was a bit anarchistic and bought the skin through the closed Cosmetic Fair doors – could not wait. My timezone is 10 hours ahead SL time;)

First three pics: Jarla V2 A blonde Nordic, Jarla V2 A brown Nordic, Jarla V2 A black Nordic. No makeup, no tintable lip layer, just my normal FTL Natural Lashes.

Jarla 3 browsMakeup d. Select eyeshadow Lilac. Tintable age lines are way too much – I have nothing like that IRL. But I do want to keep looking realistic way to show my age (46) inworld…jarlakollaasi1Nordic skin, nordic background – and tintable lip layer brightness 3. I want to keep my eyebrows black – they are very dark also IRL. It is nice combination with blue eyes and blondish/light-brownish hair. If I want to keep my mixed reality balance I has to either blonde my RL hair or get darker hair in SL:)jarlalips3_001

Oh no! Appliers please!

ohno

As you can see, my new SLink hands do not fit perfectly with my present skin (Mynerva Plain Jane English Rose).  And believe me, I’ve tried to fit them! For hours!

My plan B was to get a new skin. Or “new” new, from my inventory. But I soon realized all my old skins looked old-fashioned and they had too much going on. I want my skin to be like blank canvas I can paint…add layers if I want more make up. Realistic look is also important, too smooth skin is boring. I don’t want to look like a doll. If the skin has puffy eyelids, it is mine:) Mature skins usually do not work but I found tintable age lines which I think are useful in case I need RL matching look;)

Plan C: find a new skin with proper SLink appliers! And I did. After  marketplace searching I found DeeTalez Jarla. I teleported to the mainstore and was ready to grab it when I realized it is pre-released at the Cosmetic Fair starting today. So now I am here, waiting Americans get up and open the damn event:)

But at least my butt still looks nice!

LeLutka and LentoTähti

This morning there was a quite funny conversation with my Finnish SL-friend. I told I have been incorrectly called Minnu and that name lead us to LeLutka, very well know SL-fashion brand founded by Minnu Palen and one of my all-time-favorites.

And why it was so funny? Because lutka in Finnish means hooker… or it is not so bad as hooker, maybe more like a very generous and liberal woman. LeLutka sounds like classy french-styled hooker!

Sometimes I have thought maybe Minnu Palen is Finnish but I really have no idea. Probably not. There is also other Finnish brand names at SL, like small shop LentoTähti (I think it’s not operating anymore). Almost all Finnish based names have been made by japanese SL-designers. Santa Claus from Finland’s Lapland and The Moomins are popular in Japan and Finnish language may sound exotic and fun.

I tried to search old LentoTähti clothes but I think I have deleted them last spring when I did inventory cleaning. LeLutka skins, hairs and clothes I have many and as a bit hurry I choose first ones. Olja hair looks still fine but has to say that old skin looks…well, messy and old.

  • hair LeLutka Olja BlondeFun
  • skin LeLutka Friday Light (light browns)
  • dress LeLutka Simone sandybrown (just before MESH came…)

A sad little hamster

Inventory meme by Strawberry Singh

1. What is your current inventory number? – 22. 370 items.
2. If you had to delete your whole inventory and could only keep one thing, what would it be? – my current skin.
3. What is the last thing you purchased? – GoFigure Mesh Tree Bookshelf.
4. Which item do you wear most often? – FTL Natural Eyelashes.
5. When you search for the word penis, how many items pop up? – 2 from old freebie pack (white penis and newbie penis).

I have recently deleted a lot of stuff. Old old old freebies mostly, hunt gifts and so on. I try to keep my inventory nice and clean, but… you know. Shopping spree or a hunt and it’s horrible mess once again.

Yesterday I had my SL open when my boyfriend/lover/partner was here.  I gave him a job: make my avatar face look more my RL face. And this is the ugly truth: I look like a little sad hamster.

PS. We are still together.

Default avatar (of the few females). Flowerpower fairy?

Pure horror. That was my first reaction when I extempore signed up to the InWorldz. Not because of leaving SL – oh no never! – but just for curiosity. I also have Blue Mars account since 2009 and I tested it also – but hated every minute of it. It is so totally different than SL and seems like there’s absolutely nothing to see or do. I might be wrong, but learning curve after SL is too painful so I don’t think I log in to the Blue Mars any time soon.

But InWorldz. It is like old-fashioned SL… like going back in time. Being newbie again is rough! When I arrived to the welcome area there was people waiting and offering me free house and help – very friendly and nice, but it happened so quickly… 10 minutes after log in I was standing outside my 30 day free rental beach house. Had to admit I was little irritated when they gave me tips how to put my typing animation off or how to open preferences… after I had said several times I am very familiar with the viewer based on my 7 years in SL. The viewer feels to be same as SL viewer, I did not noticed any differences what so ever.

after shape and skin (not perfect, just took something) I was desperate to find something to wear. these clothes took me back to my early SL years…

after new clothing and hair I still look rather horrible. not feeling comfy.

I have no idea if I am going back. I am not so interested, but I am curious to test other virtual worlds too and it is not fair to judge after quick testing. Nevertheless, my tip of the day: if you think SL is boring and dull and empty and stupid, try other virtual worlds and you are gonna just love love love Second Life.
