Pink and dreamy pixels

Yesterday I tried something I have wanted to do for a years – after seeing a machinima filmed with the iPhone capturing Second Life on the PC screen. So I went to the Pangloss, beautiful art inspirited sim, and took these two pics with my Samsung Galaxy S2 Instagram app. I did not use any tricks, but as you can see, the first pic has very unique texture. Very vintage look with zero effort! The second one is more clear.

Next I am going to test screen capturing with an iPad:)

Comic strip skin

Fingerpori is very popular Finnish comic strip by Pentti Jarla. My new skin is DeeTalez‘s Jarla skin – and I can not stop giggling every time I wear this skin. Fingerpori’s humour is based on verbal misunderstandings and puns.

Yesterday I was a bit anarchistic and bought the skin through the closed Cosmetic Fair doors – could not wait. My timezone is 10 hours ahead SL time;)

First three pics: Jarla V2 A blonde Nordic, Jarla V2 A brown Nordic, Jarla V2 A black Nordic. No makeup, no tintable lip layer, just my normal FTL Natural Lashes.

Jarla 3 browsMakeup d. Select eyeshadow Lilac. Tintable age lines are way too much – I have nothing like that IRL. But I do want to keep looking realistic way to show my age (46) inworld…jarlakollaasi1Nordic skin, nordic background – and tintable lip layer brightness 3. I want to keep my eyebrows black – they are very dark also IRL. It is nice combination with blue eyes and blondish/light-brownish hair. If I want to keep my mixed reality balance I has to either blonde my RL hair or get darker hair in SL:)jarlalips3_001

Oh no! Appliers please!

ohno

As you can see, my new SLink hands do not fit perfectly with my present skin (Mynerva Plain Jane English Rose).  And believe me, I’ve tried to fit them! For hours!

My plan B was to get a new skin. Or “new” new, from my inventory. But I soon realized all my old skins looked old-fashioned and they had too much going on. I want my skin to be like blank canvas I can paint…add layers if I want more make up. Realistic look is also important, too smooth skin is boring. I don’t want to look like a doll. If the skin has puffy eyelids, it is mine:) Mature skins usually do not work but I found tintable age lines which I think are useful in case I need RL matching look;)

Plan C: find a new skin with proper SLink appliers! And I did. After  marketplace searching I found DeeTalez Jarla. I teleported to the mainstore and was ready to grab it when I realized it is pre-released at the Cosmetic Fair starting today. So now I am here, waiting Americans get up and open the damn event:)

But at least my butt still looks nice!

Swinging workers

I’ve had tomboy feeling for a while so I have used jeans and boots and sweaters mostly. Many items are from COCO‘s winter sale.

I have pretty nice collection of boots, cowboy, suede, leather and fur…I can not resist quality boots – or any other shoes. LRD’s Unisex Worker Boots are easy to wear and not too expensive (550L). They also remind my favorite RL boots, Dr Martens 8 eye boots. Mine are almost 10 years old but still good looking.

Unisex Workers come with an easy HUD, one click and you can change the colour. I have V3 and it has 14 colour options, but LRD also has patterned versions.

No more ugly wrists

New year, new something. I want to balance my both lives and find some new and inspiriting things to do. I love chilling and wearing pajamas, but I want to be more active and have less pajama days!

Since I first read about mesh hands I have wanted to own them. I have no idea why it took so long…but now I finally bought SLink hands (elegant 1). No proper pics yet, I am still looking the most perfect poses:) pajama2_001

pajama3_001I have already wrote about my cats. I don’t know how long I enjoy interacting with them but it is nice to have a SL hobby:) I have tried many: building (I suck), designing (too unpatient), machinima (too self-critical after few finished machinimas).

Blogging is more than a hobby for me. Right now it is almost a lifesaver. In Finnish I am a writer/author, published many books and articles and blogged since 1999/2002. I also teach regularly how to blog and maintain a good blog. BUT: my last book was published 2011 and since then I have not written anything – expect this blog. With this blog I keep away TOTAL writer’s block while I try to start writing in Finnish again.

Everyone wants to have more readers, me too. My first steps was to syndicate my blog on few feeds  (list of my feeds under my blogroll), – but most of all, write and take pics with more time and forethought but still with no stress and having a blast:)
